Webinar on the IPCEI Innovative Nuclear Technologies
european economics is pleased to invite you to its webinar on public funding for nuclear innovation in Europe, on 27 October 2026, from 11:00 to 12:00 (CET).
Small modular reactors, advanced reactors, new fuels, components and materials: an innovative nuclear project requires 10 to 15 years and billions of euros of investment before its first industrial deployment. Between R&D and market entry, these projects face a funding gap that private capital alone does not close. The new IPCEI on Innovative Nuclear Technologies has been designed to bridge it.
Several Member States have already opened their call for expression of interest, including Italy, where applications must be submitted by 3 December 2026. Further national calls are expected in the coming weeks, notably in Croatia, France, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and Spain.
This webinar will cover:
- why nuclear innovation needs public funding,
- the funding available in Europe, from R&D to industrial deployment,
- the IPCEI: principles and lessons learned from previously approved IPCEIs,
- the IPCEI Innovative Nuclear Technologies: scope, timeline and next steps.
The presentation by Marc Isabelle, founder and CEO of european economics, will focus on the key success factors of an IPCEI application: demonstrating the funding gap, the innovative nature of the project, and market analysis. He will also address the points of attention when setting up a project.
